As Burkina Faso marked the National Day of Customs and Traditions on May 15, 2026, President Captain Ibrahim Traoré paid tribute to the custodians of the country’s cultural and spiritual heritage, calling on citizens to safeguard and promote ancestral values amid rapid social and cultural change.

In a message addressed to the nation, the Burkinabè leader praised the “guardians of traditional values, knowledge, and expertise,” as well as followers of traditional religions and ancestral practices, extending his wishes for a successful celebration.

President Traoré used the occasion to emphasize the importance of preserving Burkina Faso’s cultural identity and traditional practices in the face of evolving societal dynamics.
